Dymphna Flynn – testimonials

Dymphna Flynn is simply one of the best producers I’ve worked with in my long career in radio. She’s highly experienced in all aspects of audio production, from producing live shows at the Edinburgh Festival to cleverly crafted pre-recorded interviews. Great at suggesting questions for guests, script development and very well read with extensive contacts in the literary world. She is always calm and on top of the material. If you’re thinking of putting together a podcast or a live book event, Dymphna would be an excellent person to have at your side.

I’ve worked with Dymphna several times over the years. She’s a great professional, passionate and knowledgeable about all aspects of writing and publishing, and an absolute pleasure.

Many great books have found their way to BBC Radio 4’s Front Row via Dymphna, often thrusting a proof copy into my hands, promising ‘you’ll love this’. She is a reader with taste.

John Wilson Presenter, This Cultural Life on BBC Radio 4

Back in 2014 we started work on the first Derby Book Festival with no experience of the publishing world, but bags of enthusiasm. Dymphna’s leap of faith in recording BBC Radio 4’s Bookclub at our first Festival gave us a huge boost in confidence, giving us credibility and enabling us to attract the serious attention of publishers. She also generously agreed to share her Bookclub experiences at a special Festival event: The National’s Reading Group on Air, which was a sell-out.

She has continued to graciously, warmly and willingly share her vast knowledge and experience of all things book-related with us, which has been invaluable over the past six years. She is a joy to work with, a true professional in all she does, and the BBC’s loss will undoubtedly be the book (and book festival) world’s gain.
